It’s Polar Bear Week! We are excited to be a partner with Polar Bears International in our quest to bring awareness about this amazing species! What better way to do so than to devote an entire week just to Polar Bears!
Here's a little background information about polar bears. There are currently approximately 20,000 polar bears in the wild but their numbers are decreasing due to loss of habitat: the sea ice. Sea ice is very important to polar bears because they rely on it to hunt for ice seals. Since polar bears were recently placed on the threatened species list and they play a huge role in the Arctic food chain, we can all start to take action in our daily lives to ensure these iconic animals' populations do not continue to decrease. Each of us can make changes in our daily lives to help reduce our carbon footprint.
In this month's edition of Trainer Talk, trainer Carrie will share with us some amazing facts about polar bears! In this first episode, we focus on polar bear habitats, physical adaptations and behaviours.
